I am also interested to see what the most related terms will be, since the hashtag has been used in relation to so many events.<\/p>\n<p>After making my word cloud, I have noticed a few things. The following terms stand out to me most often over all 7 days: Trump, Bannon, business, sanctions, Eric Wolfson, Russia, appoint, and resistance. These seem to be the topics most connected to #thisisnotnormal. I expected terms relating to the Muslim Ban to be some of the most prominent, but this does not seem to explicitly be the case or manifest the way I expected. I don&#8217;t believe there are any terms obscuring my data too heavily- it seems that most of the larger terms are very connected to the state of the new administration just as I expected. Tweeters @thewomenswatch and @therealdonaldtrump were tweeting quite often using my hashtag, and I left those terms in. The larger terms indicate larger trends in attention.<\/p>\n<p>The terms I chose to exclude in addition to the given list are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>make<\/li>\n<li>seat<\/li>\n<li>jicm05bkgd<\/li>\n<li>bobesca_go<\/li>\n<li>he&#8217;s<\/li>\n<li>good<\/li>\n<li>like<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I moved the &#8220;terms&#8221; slider to the smallest number (25) in order to focus on the most important terms related to my hashtag. Looking at the smallest terms among a number any higher than 25 did not seem to provide much insight on my data, so I chose to\u00a0simplify the images. I truly expected to see terms like &#8220;Muslim Ban&#8221; or terms related to that topic. &#8220;Bannon&#8221; and less obvious terms which related did appear quite often. \u00a0Below is my new word cloud after limiting it to 25 words.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2676 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/amst-data-driven\/files\/2017\/03\/JAN-31-WORD-CLOUD-e1488574939460.png\" alt=\"JAN 31 WORD CLOUD\" width=\"451\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/amst-data-driven\/files\/2017\/03\/JAN-31-WORD-CLOUD-e1488574939460.png 451w, http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/amst-data-driven\/files\/2017\/03\/JAN-31-WORD-CLOUD-e1488574939460-300x215.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 451px) 100vw, 451px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although the term &#8220;trump&#8221; came up most often, three terms that stuck out to me as points for analysis were Bannon, the resistance and &#8220;stoppreside.&#8221; The use of the terms Bannon and &#8220;stoppreside&#8221; (cut off of #StopPresidentBannon) both relate to the surfacing of information that Bannon was behind the initiation of the Muslim Ban. Use of these two terms first emerged and then rose dramatically around February 4th through February 6th. &#8220;The resistance&#8221; is another more vague term we can look at that might actually be able to provide a lot of information on the data through closer examination. This was a phrase that was picked up as a way to oppose the administration, alongside the use of the phrase &#8220;this is not normal&#8221; which I chose to focus on. Following &#8220;the resistance&#8221; could provde insight on what people react most strongly to. The use of #theresistance was coming down from a high on January 31st, the first day I began collecting data, suggesting that it had been at a high possibly due to the enactment of the Muslim Ban a few days prior.
