Her lecture was entitled &#8220;Made of Words: Euripides&#8217; Helen and the Art of Verse Translation&#8221;, and in it she talked to a large audience of students and faculty about the opportunities and challenges of rendering Euripides&#8217; poetry into English verse for her Hackett-published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ion-Helen-Orestes-Euripides\/dp\/1624664806\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1543775419&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=svarlien+ion+orestes\">translation<\/a> of the <em>Helen, Ion,<\/em> and <em>Orestes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She also visited Greek 102 to discuss the different ways of translating the Greek of Euripides into English, and she offered the &#8220;Try Greek!&#8221; workshop that introduced first-year students to the joys of ancient Greek.
