Lucian&#8217;s narrator describes them as light-armed infantry who wore chitons down to their feet and flew by letting the wind fill these chitons (\u03c7\u03b9\u03c4\u1ff6\u03bd\u03b1\u03c2 \u03c0\u03bf\u03b4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b5\u03b9\u03c2 \u1f51\u03c0\u03b5\u03b6\u03c9\u03c3\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03bf\u03b9 \u03ba\u03bf\u03bb\u03c0\u03ce\u03c3\u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03b5\u03c2 \u03b1\u1f50\u03c4\u03bf\u1f7a\u03c2 \u03c4\u1ff7 \u1f00\u03bd\u03ad\u03bc\u1ff3 \u03ba\u03b1\u03b8\u03ac\u03c0\u03b5\u03c1 \u1f31\u03c3\u03c4\u03af\u03b1 \u03c6\u03ad\u03c1\u03bf\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9 \u1f65\u03c3\u03c0\u03b5\u03c1 \u03c4\u1f70 \u03c3\u03ba\u03ac\u03c6\u03b7). We discussed various translations of \u1f08\u03bd\u03b5\u03bc\u03bf\u03b4\u03c1\u03cc\u03bc\u03bf\u03b9, including the suggestion of the editors of our textbook, Evan Hayes and Stephen Nimis, &#8220;Wind Walkers&#8221;, and the translation by A. M. Harmon in his 1913 Loeb translation, &#8220;Volplaneurs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Volplaneurs&#8221; is French for &#8220;Wind Walkers,&#8221; but why did Harmon choose to use French here? Perhaps this was intended to be a nod to the great French science-fiction writer of the nineteenth century, Jules Verne!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/classics\/files\/2019\/05\/lucian-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-756\" src=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/classics\/files\/2019\/05\/lucian-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1508\" height=\"2111\" srcset=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/classics\/files\/2019\/05\/lucian-2.jpg 1508w, http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/classics\/files\/2019\/05\/lucian-2-214x300.jpg 214w, http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/classics\/files\/2019\/05\/lucian-2-768x1075.jpg 768w, http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/classics\/files\/2019\/05\/lucian-2-731x1024.jpg 731w, http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/classics\/files\/2019\/05\/lucian-2-624x874.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1508px) 100vw, 1508px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This sparked a comment by student George Adams about how Bono, the lead singer of the band U2, played a concert at Trinity in 1983 before the band was a household name. Bono climbed to the top of the Life Sciences Building and ziplined down. This is featured in an edition of\u00a0<em>Trinity Tripod<\/em> article (below).
