Your goal is to create the best class for The College that meets the target (entering class size = 3)\u00a0and stays within the financial aid budget ($75,000), or face a 2-point penalty in your final grade. The Committee must agree on its final ratings of applicants in our <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1SQnFAnNeBRvyHQiaK_NO1yvcGMt1JXqsBzdLuBaH10w\/edit#gid=1690131083\">shared Google Sheet<\/a> before our Monday Sept 28th meeting.<\/p>\n<p>When the Admissions Committee makes an offer, the applicant&#8217;s enrollment decision will be\u00a0determined\u00a0this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.random.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">random number generator<\/a>\u00a0(from 1 to 100) and the these odds of acceptance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regular\u00a0applicants accept an offer\u00a034% of the time. For example, a regular applicant who receives your offer of admission will enroll if\u00a0the random number is between 1 and 34.<\/li>\n<li>Financial aid awards\u00a0increase the odds of enrollment by 3 percentage points for every $10k in total grant. For example, an applicant who is offered\u00a0admission with a $20k financial aid grant (34+3+3=40%) will enroll\u00a0if the random number falls between 1-40.<\/li>\n<li>Legacy status, meaning the applicant is a close relative of alumni,\u00a0increases the regular odds of enrollment by 20 percentage points (34+20=54%).\u00a0For example,\u00a0a legacy applicant who is offered admission will enroll\u00a0if the random number falls between 1-54.<\/li>\n<li>Wait list penalty: If an applicant is not offered admission in the first stage of your decisions,\u00a0this decreases the\u00a0odds that s\/he\u00a0will accept a later decision by\u00a04 percentage points.
