The goal of the program is to support experienced teachers who wish to undertake a project of innovation in their teaching and be part of an ongoing conversation about pedagogy. Fellows each receive a $2000 stipend, and together they form a colloquium that gathers once per month to discuss their projects. This year’s fellows especially valued their opportunities to collaborate, and next year’s grantees will participate in the life of their cohort in multiple ways, including observing one or more of the other fellows’ classes and participating in a collective presentation of their projects near the end of the spring 2014 semester. Fellows also will produce a written report that can be shared with the Trinity community.

The CTL Fellows program seeks to support a wide range of projects focused on creative ideas about teaching. Projects may be germane to a single course (existing or new) or multiple courses in a faculty member’s portfolio. They may be content- or practice-oriented. Fellows may wish to work on ways of bringing into the classroom a scholarly project or a new development in their field; adapt or develop a pedagogical mode—a type of classroom activity or assignment, for instance—the faculty member has not previously employed; or otherwise pursue a defined goal in one’s teaching. The seven fellows in the inaugural group—Kathleen Archer, Brett Barwick, Carol Clark, Jack Dougherty, Luis Figueroa, Joe Palladino, and Irene Papoulis—pursued an eclectic array of projects, which you can read more about here.

In a two-page proposal, applicants should describe the teaching projects they wish to undertake; provide a rationale for the project; and explain the expected impacts on their teaching. Tenured, tenure-track and full-time, continuing members of the Trinity faculty, who have been at the college at least two years, are eligible to apply. Proposals should be submitted to ctl@trincoll.edu by Monday, March 25, at 4:00 pm, and notifications will occur in early April.
