He doesn&#8217;t know why he started, exactly \u2014 just that simply playing instruments wasn&#8217;t enough.<\/p>\n<p>Rom\u00e1n \u2014 who teaches in the music department at Trinity College in Hartford<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 has written pieces for all sorts of combinations of instruments, from symphony orchestras to saxophone and viola duets. His new string quartet, commissioned by Cuarteto Latinoamericano \u2014 a Grammy-winning classical music ensemble based in Mexico \u2014 premieres at the Hartt School next week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this might be very common with all composers,\u201d\u00a0Rom\u00e1n\u00a0said. \u201cWe don\u2019t know exactly why we do it. It\u2019s simply just an impulse. It&#8217;s an instinct.
