For this first week of lab we will go over the lab syllabus, talk about lab/field trip procedure and work with some data sets that will get you familiar with Microsoft Excel. Please make sure to bring the following to lab for the first meeting:
1- Yellow Rite-in -rain spiral notebook
2- pencils and erasers
3- a laptop computer if you have one (we have plenty in lab if you do not have your own). It needs to have MS Excel already installed. The college provides free versions of MS Office.
Mac users – Excel 2015 has the statistical Add-in package called Analysis ToolPak for basic statistics (under Tools -> Add-ins)
If you are still using MS Excel 2011, it’s time to upgrade…but in the meantime here are the directions for installing a 3rd party statistical package that will allow you to run some of the statistical computations for this lab.
