New Databases to Try

We’ve arranged trials of two databases. We’d like to hear your opinion:

  • Policy Map, an online data and mapping application that gives access to over 15,000 indicators related to housing, crime, mortgages, health, jobs, demographics and education. Through PolicyMap, you can access all data in maps, tables, charts, and reports. Data may be viewed by block group, census tract, zip code, county, city, state, MSA, school districts and political boundaries.  Many of the public files are available for download, proprietary data sets are not. You may also upload your own address level data and share your data and interactive maps with others.
  • Press Reader. An online platform for a variety of newspapers and magazines. Press Reader is mainly being tested as a way to provide timely access to international news. You may find the interface works better if you download the free app and access content on a device such as the iPhone, iPad or Android device.

Please try these databases and let us know if you think the library should consider a purchase by sending email to kbauer@trincoll.edu.
