Every Fall, for the past four years, my team has coached for Inner City Lacrosse. Inner City Lacrosse is a program that gives children of the Hartford area the opportunity to learn a new sport, lacrosse, with college lacrosse players. Every Sunday in the Fall, middle school aged girls and boys are encouraged to come join us on the turf to pass around and play. To me, the opportunity to coach these young girls means a lot more than just teaching lacrosse, but I look towards my role as an important role model for these young children. By coaching them, I hope they take home with them the importance of hard work so that they aspire to someday be a college student who values both hard work and teamwork. This experience has taught me the importance of giving back to the community and has opened my eyes to the possibility of continuing community involvement as a career path after I graduate.
