{"id":634,"date":"2014-08-03T15:59:25","date_gmt":"2014-08-03T15:59:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/rring\/?p=634"},"modified":"2014-08-03T15:59:25","modified_gmt":"2014-08-03T15:59:25","slug":"stephen-tudor-class-of-1955-to-go-on-going-on","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/rring\/2014\/08\/03\/stephen-tudor-class-of-1955-to-go-on-going-on\/","title":{"rendered":"Stephen Tudor, Class of 1955:  \u201cTo go on going on\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Posted as 8 of 10 in a series on the College Archives by Emma Paine, a graduate student intern from Simmons College]<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/rring\/files\/2014\/08\/Tudor_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-635\" alt=\"Tudor_1\" src=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/rring\/files\/2014\/08\/Tudor_1-233x300.jpg\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/rring\/files\/2014\/08\/Tudor_1-233x300.jpg 233w, http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/rring\/files\/2014\/08\/Tudor_1-798x1024.jpg 798w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 233px) 100vw, 233px\" \/><\/a>An English professor and a poet, Stephen Tudor, Class of 1955, was clearly a fan of the written word, and his folder is full of correspondence, most of which is addressed to a couple named John and Phyllis. \u00a0It appears Stephen was in the habit of writing them yearly letters to exchange birthday wishes and to give John the status update on his Girand-Perregaux timepiece, an earlier gift that proved itself \u201ca remarkable watch, through thick and thin\u201d and always seems to be \u201cticking along heartily as ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to updating John on the watch, Stephen also talks about his work, his family, and his travels, and, in this way, his whole life unfolds through his letters. \u00a0Although he would have preferred history, Tudor got his first job as an English professor.
