Students win $10K for Business Idea
Over 100 people gathered at the Washington Room in Mather Hall to watch presentations at the 2014 Trinity Entrepreneurship Competition, held by the Career Development Center. Pictured above, Nathaniel Nurmi ’14 was one of four teams to present at the event. Alex Barker ’14 and Jake Shimmel ’14 ultimately won the competition, which included a top prize of $10,000 to pursue their project. Click here for full details about the event and the winning idea. Senior Chemistry Majors Pair Their Wine with Scholarship

Senior Mac McCarthy ’14, fields a question from a classmate following his presentation on proanthocyanidins, a class of compounds prevalent in red wines. Eight senior chemistry majors are participating in a senior seminar studying the chemistry of wine with Cheyenne Brindle and Michelle Kovarik, assistant professors of chemistry. Following McCarthy’s presentation, based on the 2008 article “Chemical Synthesis of Proanthocyanidins in Vitro and Their Reactions in Aging Wines,” from the journal Molecules, the students and faculty members tasted and discussed five Georgian wines.
