Clark expedition.<\/p>\n<p>The following is one of my favorite items in the exhibition:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/watkinson\/files\/2012\/10\/Byron.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-920\" src=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/watkinson\/files\/2012\/10\/Byron-220x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/watkinson\/files\/2012\/10\/Byron-220x300.jpg 220w, http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/watkinson\/files\/2012\/10\/Byron-751x1024.jpg 751w, http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/watkinson\/files\/2012\/10\/Byron.jpg 1794w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/><\/a>Robert Southey<em>, Omniana; or Horae otiosiores<\/em> (London, 1812)<\/p>\n<p>Robert Southey, the son of a linen draper, was born in Bristol in 1774. \u00a0After his father&#8217;s death an uncle sent him to Westminster School but he was expelled in 1792 after denouncing flogging in the school magazine.\u00a0 In 1794 Southey met and befriended \u00a0Samuel Taylor Coleridge;
