H. M. Question [Paper due Tuesday, November 20]<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In Corkin (2002), on page 159, the author says: “Whether H.M. in fact has a sense of self is a matter for the reader to ponder.”<\/p>\n

OK. Take the suggestion and ponder the question. After you have pondered, write an essay to explain your conclusions about H.M.’s sense of self. Support your position (or positions) by evidence of what H.M. can and cannot do.<\/p>\n

Suggested length: 1200 – 1500 words<\/p>\n

As usual, please submit your paper as an attachment to an email (deposits to the Digital Dropbox on Blackboard also are acceptable). In addition, please name your file in the form “lastname_HM.doc” (those of you with the new version of Word need to save it down a level so that the extension on the end is indeed “.doc” and not “docx” ).<\/p>\n

Extra Credit<\/strong> — I have been told that Suzanne Corkin is not flattered by how she is presented in the book, Memory’s Ghost<\/em>. Explain carefully whether or not you think this reaction is justified.<\/p>\n
