Sean Hartzell, Amber Pitt, and Steve Davis published research in the journal, Herpetological Conservation & Biology, that elucidated hellbender and invasive rusty crayfish interactions. They found that adult and subadult hellbenders can and will prey upon invasive rusty crayfish.
