CHAS regularly assembles representatives from member institutions for meetings to exchange ideas, obtain new information, share best practices, and engage in networking. These meetings have typically taken place once or twice a year. The 2020 meeting will take place online, on June 11 (1p – 4p Eastern).
The theme of this year’s virtual gathering is “Pursuing Equity in the Midst of Crisis Planning: Issues Higher Education Institutions Should be Considering During the COVID Pandemic.”
Last year’s representatives meeting was hosted by Fordham University, June 5-7, 2019. The theme was of the 2019 conference was, “MAKES ME WANNA HOLLER:Rethinking Access and Belonging in the Shadow of Increasing Economic Inequality and Political Polarization,” and featured speakers included Anthony Abraham Jack (Assistant Professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and author of The Privileged Poor: How Elite Colleges Are Failing Disadvantaged Students) and Christina Greer (Associate Professor of Political Science and American Studies at Fordham University and author of Black Ethnics: Race, Immigration and the Pursuit of the American Dream).
