In the limited days I was home for spring break, I visited a popular local shop called Marblehead House of Pizza. Covering the walls are various plaques, certificates, and awards, some reading \u201cBest Pizza on the North Shore\u201d while others simply commend faithful and loyal customers since their opening decades ago. Marblehead, MA, a small town located on the coast north of Boston, has a wide variety of families, some with blue collar workers and others part of the one-percent.<\/p>\n

Located in downtown Marblehead and in a short walking distance from their historical district, it is an ideal place to grab lunch. Although they are slightly dated on their appearance and do not accept credit cards, their service is second to none. With few employees, there are always familiar faces behind the counter serving their delicious Greek pizza, subs, and salads. Greek pizza \u2013 uncommon and unique, their recipes leave their pizzas greasy, giving them their nickname \u201cHouse of Grease\u201d.<\/p>\n

Just like the population of Marblehead, the crowd in House of Pizza can be very diverse. On almost all occasions, you can find middle school kids or teenagers enjoying food. Along with them, you can find anyone from a construction worker eating lunch to a lawyer in a suit. This place is very special as the diversity is constant and \u201cMarbleheaders\u201d will always run into someone they know. If you\u2019re not a resident, their friendly staff is always interested in making conversation.<\/p>\n

Marblehead House of Pizza relates well to Global Cities, Local Streets<\/em> as various parts of the book explain the importance of having local food shops. If someone visiting from outside of Marblehead were to ask for food recommendations, many locals would often steer them here as they have a lot of pride for the best pizza, subs and calzones around.<\/p>\n
