Reading Question 2 9/18

The trailer is able to manifest interest by immediately engaging the viewer visually, with the bright blue line against the black contrast it is easy to pay attention to what is happening. Then, as the trailer transitions, it stays with the faded out background, but continues to display the blue line, as well as other bright blue letters that stand out, spelling the word “love.” The word love is a very common theme in movies and books, however it is always engaging, at least in my opinion. Love is a strong word, and can mean many different things to many different people, it could be romantic, or strictly platonic, and most everybody has experienced a sensation such as love. In addition to the word love, the word “pain” also appears, and this can also mean many different things to a variety of people. Pain can be emotional, physical, traumatic, and everybody has experienced some sort of pain in their lifetime as well. Because these are two very relatable words, it is easy to draw an emotional connection to these words, therefore they apply to many anybody watching. In addition tot he visual appeal, there is an audible appeal as well. The soft song in the background is both calming, and intriguing. It does not define the trailer, or the book, however by engaging the different sensory images and sounds, the producer of the trailer does a good job by keeping the viewers engaged, however not giving away the story, leaving the viewer to feel as though they must read the book.

This is the link to the other book trailer that I found. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcR1B-48lK4#t=21.  – This trailer does the same thing, visual appeal without giving away the entirety of the story, enough to engage the viewer, and foster interest.

The types of books that get book trailers I have found are more so the books that appeal to younger audiences, and this is probably due to the fact that with the internet it is easier to cultivate popularity through social media, or internet advertisement in younger audiences, since they are usually always connected to social media. By addressing younger audiences, the producers of these book trailers are taking advantage of the fact that younger audiences are more willing to give their attention and pursue something that gives a visually, or audibly appealing first impression.
