1. How are Hume, Kant, and Bourdieu different in their thinking about taste? (You might choose to focus on two rather than all three.) Whom do you tend to agree with more, and why? What examples might help support your preference?
2. Wilson associates the habitus of a “white, nerdy fifteen-year-old boy” with the film High School Musical. Think of another text (a book, tv show, film, artist or album) and imagine the habitus of a fan. What about that text suggests such a habitus? P. S. Don’t be cruel.
3. Use the “Reading questions for secondary texts” as a jumping off point to raise any other issues in the Wilson reading that you’d like to discuss in class. You might choose to focus on a single sentence, a word that seems surprising or peculiar, or a particular example he gives.
