1. Jennifer Weiner’s thesis is clear from the title of her article “I Like Likable Characters.” Is Cannie from Good in Bed likeable, in your opinion? Why or why not? How does her likeability affect your assessment of the novel’s opening?
2. What’s the difference or relationship between likeability and relatability? Are either of these metrics important to you when you consume texts (of any sort)? Can you think of any unlikeable or unrelatable characters you’ve encountered recently whom you liked despite yourself?
3. Close read a passage from the first chapter of Good in Bed. Then, comment on whether you found it easy or difficult to close read. Why or why not?
