Have any of your favorite books been turned into movies? Or have you ever disobeyed the edict to “read the book first” before seeing the movie?
When I rewatched the Celine Dion video (the official one, not the Oscars performance), I thought about that trend (maybe just a 90s thing?) of making a music video out of footage from the movie where the song appeared. That doesn’t happen with Elliott Smith’s song (and it’s hard to image him approving a montage of clips from Good Will Hunting). It reminds me of how books get re-issued when a new film version is release. I hate those re-issues, and I would rather just not own a title than own a copy graced with stars.
All the King’s Men, 2006 (my favorite book in high school and so a particular sore point for me)

So – if taste is made of a thousand distastes, here’s one of my snobby distastes. Not that I’m special.
