Everyone has varying reactions to certain topics depending on age, taste, values, and personality. We often question what is the ideal age to start listening to certain genres of music, television shows to watch, book to read, websites to browse. It is up to us to decide when we are ready and depends on the individual. Reading a book such as The fault in our stars, <\/i>a heart wrenching love story for teens, evokes several emotions from the reader. Depending on how old the reader is they tend to react according to their experience level. When we read books we often try to sympathize with the characters and become invested in the plot. It is very easy to fall into that when reading this book as it is relatable to many age groups.<\/p>\n
Being thirteen for example, you are just entering your teenage years and are trying to find yourself. The content of the book is mature and some of the concepts are hard to understand at a young age. A young teenager may realize it is sad what is happening to both Hazel and Gus but cannot fully follow the emotional and physical battles they are going through. Being exposed to the concept of sickness, death and being able to deal with it all is important to realize that people are faced with these challenges.<\/p>\n
Before reading this book I had already had a preconceived notion about this love story. I had heard about the book from so many people and reacted similarly. However, my mom read the book and sympathized with Hazel\u2019s mom and all the pain she going through to keep her safe. Only a mother could understand that.
