I get so excited whenever a new issue comes up, and once I get back to my room I become so engrossed in the pages. Theres so many different stories, ads, and pictures of celebrities that its hard not to get attached to this magazine. However the material of Cosmo is not exactly hard to read, smart literature. It is completely a girly magazine. I love reading through the pages when I’m in my own space and by myself; however if I was to be with a lot of my classmates or peers, Cosmo would not be the first thing I would take out and read for everyone to see. If I met someone at a dinner party, I would not share this magazine as my favorite to read; I would most likely choose The New Yorker or some other intellectual journal. Some of the articles in Cosmo are headlined, “44 Times Cara Delevingne Looked Effortlessly Cool,” or, “11 Exercises to Sculpt Strong, Sexy Legs”. For me, I love reading about Cara Delevingne or new exercises, but I would not admit to many people that I do. Cosmopolitan is definitely my guilty pleasure. Cosmo does have some intense stories about domestic abuse, or politics, but that only happens over a few pages. The rest of the magazine is easy reading. Reading Cosmo makes me feel a little embarrassed because I know I could be spending my time reading more intellectual pieces of writing, however I choose to read about makeup, fashion, and celebrities.

I have been reading Cosmopolitan for years, ever since my mom believed I was old enough to buy my own copy.
