Good in Bed <\/i>has many different plot twists. The overall plot is pretty straight-forward and easy to follow compared to the other books we have read in class. The second half of the book is \u201cconsiderably darker\u201d and takes a different turn from the rest of the book. I still believe that this book in still beachy. Although most of the plot turns are not positive, they keep the book moving and interesting for the reader which is effective in itself. Chick lit addresses issues of womanhood, often humorously and lightheartedly, giving it a beachy and carefree feel. The way that Weiner pocks fun at herself, through characterizing Cannie in the book makes it a entertaining read.<\/p>\n
I felt that a lot of what Cannie was saying, both as a narrator and a round character was relatable. In class we looked at some of the stories that were told in the book and what lessons they told. I found most of the lessons being told were uplifting and appealing the reader. For example when Cannie stood up to her boss and proved that she could do more then she was being given. It proved that you have to be a \u201cgo- getter\u201d to get places in life. Although there were several bad things that happened in the book there were also positive things. Reading the middle of the book felt kind of long but the last chapter felt promising. Cannie stated that \u201cI name my baby Joy because she is my joy\u201d (Weiner 370). She was starting to find the happiness in her life with the people that still remained. The way she talked about her baby made me think positively of her future. I would describe the book as emotional and hopeful because of the way the book ended and how Cannie\u2019s life played out with the other characters.<\/p>\n
