English translation:

On April 5th, Julia Tempesta, Yisabell Marrero and I went to La Parada Market on New Britain Avenue, in Hartford. We met Giovanni, a 12 year old boy who agreed to answer a few questions for us. Giovanni was at first very shy, but opened up to us little by little. He explained that he has studied at Kennelly School since Pre-Kindergarten and that he really likes his school because his teachers always have their student’s best interests at heart, he really likes science but does not like mathematics. When we asked him about his nationality, he was hesitant at first, but when Yisabell reformulated her question he said that he identifies best with Puerto Rico as his parents are Puerto Rican.

After learning more about him, we asked about his vision of Hartford. Even though he likes the people living in Hartford, he does not like the criminality here as he already witnessed fights. Later on, we asked him what he thought the government could do to help the residents of Hartford, his first thought went to the library on New Britain Avenue that closed due to budget cut. He thinks it would be a good idea to re open it as it would serve the community Frog Hollow.

El 5 de Abril, Julia Tempesta, Yisabell Marrero e yo, fuimos a La Parada Market en New Britain Avenue, Hartford.
