Assistant Professor – Developmental Psychology

Washburn University’s Department of Psychology invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Psychology to begin August 2020.  This is a full-time 9-month, tenure track position.  A completed Ph.D. is required by the time of tenure track appointment. The selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to students from diverse backgrounds and a dedication to the development of inclusive pedagogies that support equity and student success.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology or related field; ABD applicants will be considered.
  • Graduate training and a research program in Developmental Psychology, with an emphasis on infancy, childhood, and/or adolescence.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching or potential for teaching excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience mentoring student research.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and seminars, which may include courses such as Introductory Psychology, Psychology of Infancy and Childhood, Adolescent Psychology, Psychology of Adulthood and Aging, Learning, Personality, Research Methods, and Graduate Seminar as assigned by the Department Chairperson.
  • Supervise undergraduate and master’s student research.
  • Have an active research program focused on infancy, childhood, and/or adolescence that can involve students.
  • Advise students.
  • Engage in service activities in the department and to the university, profession, and/or community.
