- what are the three main legal protections for intellectual property in the United States;
- What does ‘fair use’ mean and how do you determine if your use of materials complies with ‘fair use’?
Fair use allows people to quote and share many common forms of protected works.
Fair use is based upon the use of four factors: The purpose of the use, the nature of the work used, the amount used, and the effect of the use on the market for the original.
And 3, how do you think intellectual property laws impact research in your major?
I don’t think intellectual property laws impact research in my major too severely because I am not a scholar in any of the fields. I am making my own ideas based off of other people’s knowledge and information. Therefore I would need to make sure that I am not copying someone else’s intellectual property but would probably not need to worry that someone would steal mine.
