Sarah Keane wrote a new post, MoveUP! Transition Plan, on the site DataViz

Underlying Data

I am currently in possession of three sets of data, which were given to MoveUP! from three different locations. The data is kept both on Excel files as well as on Google Fusion files. In the future MoveUP! should own the data and the data could be kept by the MoveUP! director and/or attached to the MoveUP! website. The goal is to have the MoveUP! director have access to the data and be able to update it with the incoming data.

Sustainability: MoveUP! would like to be able to ask Partners to submit data to them at the end of each year, so they can keep it updated. They all report to various places in June anyway, and it’s the same information, just a different report from the database. If they can get enough partners to “buy in,” they could put the submission of data into the membership agreement and budget for any related costs.

MoveUP geocoded joined individual-level data (not available online; contact instructor)

Visualizations

As of now I am the only one in possession of all of the visualizations that have been created. All of the single layered map visualizations and charts are on Google Fusion, but the layered maps are on GitHub. The goal, again, is to have the MoveUP! director and website designer have access to the data and be able to update it with the incoming data, and from there turn it into visualizations or advance the visualizations with the new data. Skills needed would include a basic ability to use Google Fusion, so when new data is added, adjustments are able to be made. Additionally, it will be necessary to use Fusion Tables Layer Wizard as well as GitHub in order to make the changes to the layered maps with the updated data.
