The\u00a0<strong>download instructor files option\u00a0<\/strong>allows you to download a .zip file with all the materials of the Moodle course in their original file formats (i.e. PDF, docx, etc), while <strong>creating a Moodle archive <\/strong>produces an .mbz file that you can import into another Moodle course. <!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Downloading Instructor Files<\/h3>\n<p>Downloading Instructor Files enables users to download all files used and posted within a Moodle course. This method allows for a quick capture of materials from a course that can be stored locally, without having to rely on Moodle&#8217;s services to access data.<\/p>\n<p>To download instructor files:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into Moodle and open the course from which you plan to download files.<a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/download-instructor-files-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1780 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/download-instructor-files-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/download-instructor-files-2.png 293w, https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/download-instructor-files-2-262x300.png 262w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 85vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>In the horizontal navigation menu in the top of your course page, click on <strong>more<\/strong>, and\u00a0select<strong>\u00a0<strong>Download instructor files<\/strong><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Moodle then compresses the files into a single ZIP file and begins the download process. The download process depends on your browser settings. The .zip file will download without progress bar or completion alert.<\/li>\n<li>Now you can locate the downloaded .zip file on your computer and unzip the file.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Creating a Moodle Archive<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-course-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1782 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-course-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"167\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-course-1.png 223w, https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-course-1-185x300.png 185w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 167px) 85vw, 167px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n1. To backup or archive your Moodle course, go into the editing mode of your course. Then click <strong>more <\/strong>on the vertical navigation menu in the top right corner of your screen and choose &#8220;Course reuse&#8221; in the dropdown menu.<\/p>\n<p>2. Moodle then redirect you to another page where you have to select &#8220;Backup&#8221; from the dropdown menu.<a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-option-png.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1783 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-option-png.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"115\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>2. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-setting.bmp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1784 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-setting.bmp\" alt=\"\" width=\"257\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-setting.bmp 807w, https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-setting-290x300.jpg 290w, https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/moodle\/files\/2023\/05\/backup-setting-768x795.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 257px) 85vw, 257px\" \/><\/a><\/strong>With check boxes, select the initial areas of the course that you wish to save, then click &#8220;Next&#8221; in the bottom right corner. \u00a0Now choose the specific activities and resources that you want to backup, and click &#8220;Next&#8221; in the bottom right.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->3. A confirmation screen showing a summary of all the selected components will then be displayed. \u00a0Click on &#8220;Perform backup&#8221; in the bottom right to complete the process. A message will appear that the backup was successfully created. \u00a0Click &#8220;Continue&#8221; to view a listing of your private backup area, with the Moodle backup files designated with a &#8216;.mbz&#8217; extension.<\/p>\n<p>Note: the <strong>Restore<\/strong> function can then be used by either a teacher or Moodle admin to add the backup file into another course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are two methods for backing up your Moodle courses: downloading instructor files and creating a Moodle archive.
