Commonplace Posting #4

Relieved of his arms he turns again,

Addressing the Daedalean forest,

“Fear not I of this forsaken domain,”

Says the bold champion most sincerest,

Like Theseus in the maze with barest

Understanding of what was to ensue.

The lady with a generous bequest,

Summoned forth from her pocket a clew,

A soft voice of reason amongst this retinue.

(intended to follow Stanza 11 from The Faerie Queene, Book 1, Canto 1)
