He recalled his time in Los Angeles as pastor of Holman United Methodist Church. Among the congregants was the family of Joanne Berger-Sweeney, then a high school student. The 2015 ceremony was Berger-Sweeney\u2019s first Commencement as Trinity\u2019s president.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2015\/files\/2015\/10\/Commencement2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1858\" src=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2015\/files\/2015\/10\/Commencement2.jpg\" alt=\"Commencement2\" width=\"432\" height=\"312\" \/><\/a>The valedictorians were Donald L. McLagan Presidential Scholar Erin Carroll Barney of Stamford, Connecticut, who graduated\u00a0summa cum laude\u00a0with honors in engineering science and with honors in psychology, and Posse Scholar William Theodore Schreiber-Stainthorp of Chicago, Illinois, who graduated\u00a0summa cum laude\u00a0with honors in neuroscience. The salutatorian was Larsson Family Scholar Binod Giri of Nepal, who graduated\u00a0summa cum laude\u00a0with honors in engineering and mathematics.<\/p>\n<p>The Trustee Award for Faculty Excellence went to Dan Lloyd, Brownell Professor of Philosophy, and the Trustee Award for Staff Excellence was awarded to Alison J. Draper, director of the Science Center and lecturer in interdisciplinary science. The Trustee Award for Student Excellence went to Binod Giri and Caroline Benson Hayes.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Blackburn, Thomas S. Johnson Distinguished Professor of Biology, received the Thomas Church Brownell Prize for Teaching Excellence, and Daniel Mrozowski, visiting assistant professor of English, received the Arthur H. Hughes Award for Teaching Excellence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2015\/files\/2015\/10\/Commencement1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1859\" src=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2015\/files\/2015\/10\/Commencement1.jpg\" alt=\"Commencement1\" width=\"414\" height=\"313\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2015\/files\/2015\/10\/Commencement3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1857 alignRIGHT alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2015\/files\/2015\/10\/Commencement3.jpg\" alt=\"Commencement3\" width=\"432\" height=\"289\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Recipients of Charles A. Dana Research Professorships were Sarah Raskin, professor of psychology and neuroscience; Stefanie Chambers, associate professor of political science; and Anne Lambright, associate professor of language and culture studies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2015\/files\/2015\/10\/Commencement4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1856\" src=\"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2015\/files\/2015\/10\/Commencement4.jpg\" alt=\"Commencement4\" width=\"722\" height=\"482\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lawson received an honorary doctor of divinity degree. Other honorands were JoAnne A. Epps \u201973, dean of Temple University\u2019s Beasley School of Law, who received an honorary doctor of laws degree; Jon A.
