Curry also received an honorary doctor of divinity degree.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The program featured guest speaker and honorary doctor of divinity degree recipient the Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, presiding bishop and primate of the Episcopal Church. The Reverend Allison Read, college chaplain and dean of spiritual and religious life, welcomed the Trinity community to the unique virtual gathering before presenting Curry\u2014whom Read noted is perhaps most well-known for presiding over the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle\u2014to Trinity President&nbsp;Joanne Berger-Sweeney&nbsp;for the honorary degree.<\/p>\n<p>In his Baccalaureate address, Curry noted that he spent some time in conversation with Trinity students via Zoom and was asked what gives him hope in difficult times. Recalling volunteering for the late Robert F. Kennedy\u2019s Senate campaign when he was in high school, Curry said, \u201cOne of the often-repeated quotes that Senator Kennedy said was quoting George Bernard Shaw \u2026 \u2018Some men see things as they are and ask, \u2018Why?\u2019 I dream things that never were and ask, \u2018Why not?\u2019<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"A Conversation with Presiding Bishop Michael Curry\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9VLvBNgN5N0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe truth is, those who have made a difference, however large or small, are people who have dared to be \u2018Why not?\u2019 people, who have not settled for the way things are,\u201d Curry said. \u201cMy dear friends, Class of 2020 \u2026 do not settle for the \u2018why\u2019 of this world. Your liberal arts education has prepared you for uncertainty and challenge. Today, you join the ranks of alumni of Trinity College.
