Mason \u201934, also was known as Mr. Trinity. He was alumni secretary, and he coached two sports\u2014golf and squash\u2014and restarted Trinity crew with the help of Norton Downs.<\/p>\n<p>He was beloved by numerous alumni over his many illustrious years at Trinity.<\/p>\n<p>John A. \u201cSandy\u201d Mason Jr. \u201966<br \/>\n<em>Chatham, Massachusetts<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Editor\u2019s Note: Thanks to Mr. Mason for writing about his father. <\/em>Trinity College in the Twentieth Century<em> by Peter Knapp \u201965 notes: \u201c<\/em><em>In September 1960, John A. Mason \u201934, formerly Associate Director of Development, became the College\u2019s Alumni Secretary, and proceeded to develop the potential of that position through an emphasis on personal contact with hundreds of alumni, an effort that soon led to his informal designation as \u2018Mr. Trinity.\u2019 \u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hansen \u2018A Role Model For All\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6576 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2021\/files\/2021\/06\/MrTrinity-300x221.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2021\/files\/2021\/06\/MrTrinity-300x221.jpg 300w, https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-fall2021\/files\/2021\/06\/MrTrinity.jpg 492w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>I have just now seen the tribute to Jerry Hansen in the spring 2020 issue of <em>The Trinity Reporter<\/em> (Yes!\u00a0A year later.) The <em>Reporter<\/em> has done a great service in recognizing Jerry\u2019s incomparable achievements and dedication to the college and its alumni. There are few who have done so much for so many. Most moving is his complete selflessness. Others, not Jerry, were always first in his hierarchy of values. He is a role model for all.\u00a0The very best in knowing what makes life most worthwhile.<\/p>\n<p>Stan Marcuss \u201963<br \/>\n<em>Washington, D.C.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bring Back Full \u2018In Memory\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was with great surprise that I found my hard copy of the spring\u00a0<em>Reporter<\/em>\u00a0without the obituary section but just a list of the deceased. For those of us who are older, that is one of the most important sections. Looking that up on the internet, which is very difficult for me and many older alums, is penny-wise and pound-foolish. Please return to printing the obituaries in hard print. Given you have 34 pages devoted to items not generally of interest to many older alums, certainly the few pages of death notices could be returned to the print edition.<\/p>\n<p>For older alumni (I am Class of 1967), reading about classmates who are now deceased and whom we know, along with the Class Notes, is what we most need and connects us to Trinity.
