\"MonkeyAllan K. Smith Professor of English Language and Literature Francisco Goldman\u2019s latest novel, the semi-autobiographical Monkey Boy, recently was named a 2<\/em>022 Pulitzer Prize finalist for fiction.<\/p>\n

Connecticut Public Radio\u2019s Colin McEnroe Show<\/em> recently aired an interview, \u201cAn Hour with Francisco Goldman.\u201d During the interview, in addition to discussing Monkey Boy<\/em> and his other books, Goldman mentioned the sense of optimism he feels working with his students at Trinity and his appreciation for the way that young people are more internationally connected than many people from previous generations.<\/p>\n

Goldman\u2019s creative fiction writing colleague at Trinity, Associate Professor of English Ethan Rutherford, said, \u201cThis recognition for Monkey Boy<\/em> from the Pulitzer committee is such welcome news and further confirms what Francisco\u2019s readers, students, colleagues, and friends have known for years: he\u2019s one of the best writers at work today. We are so lucky to have him here at Trinity.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Trinity faculty member since 2002, Goldman is the author of five novels and two books of nonfiction, and his books have been published in 16 languages. His works have won several awards, including the 2011 Prix Femina \u00e9tranger for Say Her Name<\/em>. His novels also have been finalists for many prizes, including, twice, the PEN\/Faulkner Award. His fiction, journalism, and essays have appeared in many publications, including The New Yorker<\/em>, The New York Times Magazine<\/em>, Harper\u2019s<\/em>, and The Believer<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Goldman is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has been a Guggenheim Fellow, a Cullman Center Fellow at the New York Public Library, and a Berlin Fellow at the American Academy.<\/p>\n
