Photo: Robert Lebel<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Former Trinity College team doctor Carl Nissen, M.D., was honored during a special ceremony before the Trinity\u2013Bowdoin football game in October 2017. Nissen, who had recently retired after more than 20 years with Trinity, was presented with a framed commemorative Bantam football jersey in appreciation of his dedicated service to the college.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Nissen has been our team doctor every year that I have been here,\u201d said Head Football Coach Jeff Devanney \u201993. \u201cWhat always impressed me was the time that he would take to communicate with everyone involved when dealing with an injured athlete. \u2026 He was compassionate with the athletes and took the time to meet with parents. We are going to miss him dearly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nissen earned a B.A. from Princeton University and an M.D. from the University of Connecticut before completing his residency in orthopedic surgery at UConn and his fellowship at the Cincinnati SportsMedicine &amp; Orthopaedic Center. While a part of Trinity\u2019s team,\u00a0Nissen worked in Connecticut Children\u2019s\u00a0Medical Center\u2019s Elite Sports Medicine division, where he continues to specialize in the prevention and care of sports injuries in adolescents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Trinity College team doctor Carl Nissen, M.D., was honored during a special ceremony before the Trinity\u2013Bowdoin football game in October 2017.
