{"id":4482,"date":"2018-05-31T15:48:22","date_gmt":"2018-05-31T19:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/ebuckhor\/?page_id=4482"},"modified":"2018-05-31T15:48:22","modified_gmt":"2018-05-31T19:48:22","slug":"bantams-in-balance","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/commons.trincoll.edu\/reporter-spring2018\/along-the-walk\/bantams-in-balance\/","title":{"rendered":"Bantams in Balance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trinity\u2019s new Bantams in Balance student wellness program, launched last fall, focuses on five main areas: substance use; self-care; relationships and sexual health; leadership; and diversity, equity, and inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Bantams in Balance, in collaboration with several departments, offers special programming during high-stress exam weeks as well as ongoing activities including yoga, barre, meditation, spiritual practices, and drop-in counseling hours through the Counseling Center\u2019s Let\u2019s Talk program.<\/p>\n<p>October 2017\u2019s Fresh Check Day helped to raise awareness of mental health resources on campus and included therapy pets, massages, and free food and music. Kate Marinchak, Psy.D.,&nbsp;a psychologist in Trinity\u2019s Counseling Center, said the day was so popular that the fall 2018 event has already been scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>Marinchak said organizers will continue to welcome requests for additional ideas from student groups via an online form. \u201cOur hope is that this programming will be a combination of responses to student requests and our own initiatives.
