According to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association website, the award honors those \u201calumni who have typified the Johns Hopkins tradition of excellence and brought credit to the university by their personal accomplishment, professional achievement, or humanitarian service.\u201d Berger-Sweeney earned a Ph.D. in neurotoxicology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health after earning an undergraduate degree in psychobiology from Wellesley College and an M.P.H. in environmental health sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.
