I’m Tyler Green, currently a senior at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and originally from Farmington, Connecticut. I expect to graduate in the spring of 2015 with a B.A. in history. My academic interests have indeed revolved entirely around the study of history and I have taken courses which examine the history of all sorts of times and places. Specifically, I have become interested in the study of 19th and 20th century Britain and America. In fact, I am writing a Senior Honors Thesis about Mark Twain’s rise to literary fame in London – a topic which connects my interests across the Atlantic. The topic also allows me to incorporate my fascination with the life of Twain, whose house here in Hartford is where I have worked as a tour guide for nearly six years.
Following my time at Trinity, I plan to pursue graduate studies in history with the goal, eventually, of teaching. I have always thought, given my interest and the knowledge I have acquired, that the noblest thing to do is to pass that knowledge on. However, I also want to contribute to the study of the past – to create knowledge – and so my ambition is to do history at a level which would allow me to teach and to engage in the discourse of academia.
You will find my curriculum vitae, along with some writing samples, on this site. Please feel free to browse, thank you.
