Above: Christopher Houlihan ’09 at a 2008 rehearsal with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. This week, Houlihan was featured on American Public Media’s Pipedreams.
From the program: Christopher Houlihan was a 12-year-old middle school student when he began organ lessons with John Rose at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He won the high-school division of the Schweitzer Competition at age 15, and by the time he enrolled as a freshman at Trinity, his pals were so enthusiastic about his playing that they formed a club, the “Houli-Fans”, which now is a world-wide presence on Facebook. Check him out there as you listen to this darkly dramatic prelude to Maurice Durufle’s Suite for Organ, Opus 5, recorded at All Saints Episcopal Church, Worcester, Massachusetts by our Twenty-Something soloist Christopher Houlihan.
