This fall promises to be quite a disappointment as far as prescribed burns are concerned. First it was too warm, now it is too wet and cold. We might not have a fire season after all this year. I spent two long weekends in Iowa, sampled an entire hillside prior to prescribed burning, and found a good soil profile with a nice paleosol. Enjoy:
