South Park

By this age, society expects you to be maturing in the things you watch, listen to and say. In my case, that is not happening at all. Since about the age of 14, I look forward to Wednesday nights at 10pm for the Comedy Central series South Park. This hilarious comedy series is a satirical take on modern issues that our world faces today. Four main characters (Stan Marsh, Eric Cartman, Kyle Broflovski and Kenny McCormick) a ton of different adventures ranging from becoming Somalian pirates to becoming stars on Whale Wars to try to prevent the Japanese from killing whales. The way they go about these adventures and the way they treat/talk to each other makes the show very funny, but extremely immature.

When my best friends introduced South Park to me in eighth grade, I didn’t really know whether or not I liked it. I remember going back home after watching that first episode and watching a few more episodes, which turned into watching whole seasons. I became addicted to the show and binge watched it until I fully caught up to my friends who had been watching the show for years. What I love about it is that I can connect to some of the themes/major issues that is being made fun of in the show. For example, I used to watch The Jersey Shore and when the episode made fun of Jersey Shore, I could never watch it the same again. South Park is one of those shows that society expects you to grow out of watching in your teens and instead moving on to either the news or a much more mature TV series. Although I may be deemed immature for watching South Park, I really don’t see myself from continuing to watch it and thats why it is my guilty pleasure.
