When my brother burst into to my room and announced that he had watched the “sickest” show ever made on television, I was immediately intrigued. He explained that the show, Game of Thrones, was a fantasy involving swords, dragons, and magic. I was skeptical at first, but agreed to watch the pilot episode, which had just aired that night. To this day, I have watched every new episode of Game of Thrones live, which airs every Sunday night at 10pm when the show is in season. To say what it is that makes Game of Thrones my guilty pleasure is incredibly difficult because there are so many reasons. In short, I love Game of Thrones because of its groundbreaking cinematography, profound characters, and unpredictable plot twists that leave you utterly speechless. The plethora of awards the HBO series has received, from Emmys to Golden Globes, speaks to the brilliance of Game of Thrones. I have yet to watch a single episode that has not left me completely amazed, which is what I believe makes the series so special. From providing a panoramic view of a massive battle between two factions, or including the death of my two favorite characters within ten seconds of each other (something I am still trying to get over), every episode is packed with action. I have enjoyed a number of television series, but there is no doubt in my mind that Game of Thrones is special, and for that reason I am proud to say it is my favorite.
