Around Hartford

CM-20Flying horses of Hartford

Tucked in the city’s historic Bushnell Park, against the backdrop of downtown skyscrapers and passing cars, you’ll find a swirling colorful oasis: the Bushnell Park Carousel. The hand-carved, wooden Stein and Goldstein carousel–one of only three left in the world–was brought to Hartford in 1974 and has been almost fully restored. This year she’ll celebrate her 100th birthday amid pomp and circumstance. Visitors to the carousel pay just $1 for a three-and-a-half-minute ride that puts a smile on the faces of all kids–big and small. For more information, visit www.thecarouselmuseum.org.
