More Accolades for Trinity Squash in Global Competition

Chris Binnie ’12, Trinity College squash assistant coach, continued a strong summer showing by Trinity squashers, collecting his sixth Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Title (5th straight), as well as his seventh All-Jamaica Open. As an undergraduate at Trinity, Binnie posted a 52-5 record, collecting All-American honors along the way. Binnie secured the game-winning point, a comeback 5-4 victory versus Yale, in the 2011 CSA National Championship, which kept Trinity’s record streak alive at 13 straight National Championships at the time. Trinity Squashers Collect Medals at PanAm Games

Paul Assaiante (top left, center), Head Coach of Trinity College men’s squash, led the U.S.A. women’s team to gold in Toronto, Ontario in the 2015 Pan American Games. In addition, Harvard’s Amanda Sohby (top left, right) won the women’s individual championship for Team U.S.A., and earned another gold in the doubles championship with teammate Natalie Grainger. Trinity’s Juan Vargas ’18 (top right, left) teamed up with Andrés Herrera to lead Colombia to gold in the men’s doubles championship. Catalina Peláez ’14 (bottom left) earned bronze medal in the women’s doubles championship, and led her home country, Colombia, to bronze in the women’s team championships. Team U.S.A. squash contributed six gold medals to U.S.A.’s world-leading count of 59 gold medals in the PanAm games to date. Follow the games at www.toronto2015.org.

A Weekend to Remember at Trinity College

Trinity’s campus was abuzz with excitement this past weekend, which included the announcement of a new student-created mentoring system, “Bantam Networks,” four huge playoff wins for the Bantams, the fall student musical presentation of “Carrie,” and an exclusive screening and talk by an Academy Award-nominated producer at Cinestudio on Trinity’s campus. Photo Finish for Trinity’s Indoor Relay Team

It was a photo finish for the indoor women’s track and field 4×200 meter relay team at the New Balance Armory ECAC Championships in New York City this weekend.  Click the photo to watch the finish (shaky video). The win was one of several highlight moments for both the women’s and men’s teams, which also saw Jenna Wilborne ’15 win the ECAC long jump crown and qualify for nationals in the both the long jump and triple jump events, and Patrick Hoagland ’16 qualify in the 3,000-meter run for the NCAA Division III Championship Meet for the men. Trinity Squash Teams Continue Surge with Wins over Yale

Last week, No. 2-ranked Trinity men’s squash handed top-ranked St. Lawrence a 7-2 loss while the defending National Champion and No. 3-ranked Trinity women’s squash team knocked off No. 1-ranked University of Pennsylvania, 5-4.  The Bantams kept the momentum alive with a men’s 8-1 win last night vs. No. 5 Yale, and a women’s 7-2 win over No. 4 Yale as well.  Both the men and the women improve to 11-0 on the season. The men play at Rochester this Saturday, January 24, and the women play at Cornell this Sunday, January 25.  For more, visit athletics.trincoll.edu.  (Update: The Trinity women are now the top ranked team in the nation)
