Prof. Aponte-Avilés was born in Puerto Rico. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biology at the Inter American University; and her masters on Hispanic Studies at the University Of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus. She is currently working on her dissertation at the University of Connecticut. Her research interests include memory, oblivion, Chilean post-dictatorship, comics, and Hispanics/Latin@s in the US. Since 2015, she has taught Hispanic Hartford at Trinity College.
