Scott Gac, associate professor of history and American studies at Trinity College, talks about violence, manliness, and race in early American art at the Wadsworth Atheneum as part of EnvisionFest Hartford in September. Several Trinity students from Praxis, a residentially based community-service program at Trinity, also volunteered at the museum that day. EnvisionFest featured more than 100 free events, activities, and performances, as well as free admission to many institutions, allowing everyone to celebrate Connecticut’s capital city.
